A huge THANK YOU! In just 2 weeks we raised £1025 which has been match funded to a whopping £2050 to support our Mothers in Mind Group @ Home-Start EEMD
Your donation is helping a group of mothers who feel isolated, particularly after the impact of Covid, and may be struggling with their mental health. By offering isolated mums a supportive peer network where they can make meaningful friendships, they are able to enjoy their babies and strengthen their bond.
Situation
Women whose babies were born during the pandemic and who are struggling with their mental health will be supported to attend these small, local groups. Mothers tell us they feel lonely and isolated because of the impact their mental health has on their confidence and self-esteem and their ability to meet other mums. They do not access other sources of support or groups in the community. They recognise the impact this has on their relationship with their baby and ability to parent effectively.
Solution
The group focuses on the parent-infant bond and the principles of perinatal peer support: by offering isolated mums with poor mental health a supportive peer network and strategies for improving wellbeing, they can strengthen and enjoy that bond. Infants will have the chance to interact with others in a safe environment. Group Workers and volunteers broker friendships so that women can make meaningful connections and build networks which last well beyond their involvement with Home-Start.
